Scripture: Micah 4:1-5
As we celebrate and honor Memorial Day this weekend, there is a poignant question to be asked. Isn’t the reason that we go to war in order to bring about peace? The United States of America has been involved in conflicts and wars for 222 of its 239 years so that peace might be achieved. If you are truly walking in the way of the Lord, you will reach your destination. The Bible speaks of the bringing of peace to the last days but can we not bring about peace in our time? The inevitability of the way of the Lord is peace. Is it such a wrong thing to love the Lord? To endeavor to walk in His ways? What is considered so terrible or unpatriotic about desiring a little peace in the now, in our day and age? It is that selfsame peace that our family members, friends, neighbors, and loved ones have sacrificed their lives to achieve.
“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy,” – Hebrews 12:14a
