Easter Sunday: You Are Witnesses of These Things

Scriptures: Luke 24:1-12, 36-53

The death of Christ rent the veil, the separation of humanity and God, and brought us face to face with Him.

The curtain hid God’s face from His people; He was too holy for us, as sinners, to approach. Christ’s sacrifice made a way for us, covered us, and gave us access to God.

Jesus told His disciples that they were now witnesses to all those prophecies of the Messiah that they had been hearing all their lives. They were seeing them with their own eyes.

Returning to the temple, the disciples dwelled constantly in the unobstructed presence of God, basking in His holiness as they awaited the coming of the Holy Spirit. They ran into the temple to see God for the first time when all others fled in fear of His presence.

How many have run from God because we think ourselves unworthy? Christ’s sacrifice makes us worthy, His love gives us grace, and His death brought us mercy.
