Scripture: I Timothy 6:3-19
When all is said and done, we cannot take the trappings/wealth of the world with us. When we are gone, it will all fall to someone else.
“The good life” depends on our abiding in the love and presence of God, not on what we have in this life. Home, relationships, stuff…none of it on its own makes for or guarantees a good life.
Oh, and by the way, the Lord doesn’t need reminding of just what we have “given up” for Him. He well knows what true sacrifice is.
It is so easy to get distracted by the shiny in this life. We need to focus on the permanent, such as Godliness, love, and grace. A tiny portion of real, true gold (Godliness) is worth a ton of fool’s gold (impermanent riches).
