Scripture: Philippians 3
Sometimes we get too concerned with what we think we are supposed to be doing in church and we forget the simplest/greatest instructions: Love God. Love others. Nothing else is necessary but this.
This is the heart of simplicity in the Quaker church.
The world today years for simplicity; why else would books on decluttering and downsizing and trends like tiny houses be so popular currently?
Sometimes the earthly possessions, the stuff, can drag us down.
Traditionally, Quakers tried to keep their speech simple: honesty, integrity, forthrightness.
If our goal is to get closer to God, the way is simple: love God with all of you. Love other as much as you love yourself.
