Scripture: I Corinthians 1:10-31
In life, we are not called to be like “other Christians”. Rather, we are called to be like Christ. When others tell us that we are not “like other Christians”, it often speaks deeply of a disconnect between Christians and the one whom we claim to serve.
“The single greatest cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, then walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyles. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” Quote by Brennan Manning and included in the lyrics on the album, Jesus Freak, by dc Talk
Many people who claim to be against God have often had a distasteful or harsh experience with people who claim to be Christians.
The American Dream of a “successful life” and God’s dream of such are two different things.
Sometimes Christians look to each other for guidance rather than God, and that will lead us down all the wrong paths.
Often, we are the only example of Christ people will ever encounter. What will be the result of that instruction? Our goal as Christians should be to point others to Christ, and that is largely done sans words. People judge what they see and the lives that we live. Will the people we interact with be drawn closer to or repelled away from Christ or even the idea of Him?
Our aim should be to follow, follow Christ where He leads and emulate what He teaches.
