The only thing that Jesus requires of us is to be in a position to serve (to fish) and be willing to do so. Jesus tends to take care of the rest, but we have to go where the fish are.
Jesus isn’t asking us to sort the fish, clean them, improve the fishing process, etc. He only asks us to be where we need to be, where He calls us to be, to catch fish–to get people into the presence of God.
We cannot clean fish/clean hearts. That’s Jesus’s job and skill. We bring people to Him; He does the rest.
We should not be surprised that all we are asked to do is point people to God. We are not asked to make judgments on their worthiness; that is not our job.
Our job is to point others to the presence of the Father, no matter who they are, what they look like, etc. The lives we live are the bait; we are the fisherfolk; God is the Captain.
